About the Partner

Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) is a tertiary care teaching hospital located in Punjab, India. The institution is housed with modern amenities to provide excellent care to patients as well as training for UG and PG students. The hospital consists of 24 departments, out of which 14 are super-speciality departments and has a faculty strength of 186 members.

The Challenge

Each day, approximately 800 women who are either pregnant or have just had a delivery, die. The well-being of the children who survive is threatened in the process. Around 90% of pregnancy- or childbirth-related deaths in underdeveloped and developing countries are found in the records. The majority of women typically pass away as a result of improper abortions, obstructed labour, eclampsia, severe bleeding, infections, and other conditions.
Simple, cost-effective procedures that can be applied with minimal resources can stop a large percentage of maternal deaths. The following are the essential actions needed to enhance maternal and neonatal health:
Vector image of counseling for planning a family.
Exposure to planning a family, which includes: resources, services and lots of counseling
Vector image for access to high-quality maternity care.
Access to high-quality maternity and delivery care
Prenatal care and birth attendance, including neonatal and obstetric emergency care for infants and mothers
